आ देख कि मेरे आँसुओं में
ये किस का जमाल आ गया है.
कोई ताइर इधर नहीं आता
कैसी तक़्सीर इस मकाँ से हुई.
अगर सच इतना ज़ालिम है तो हम से झूट ही बोलो
हमें आता है पतझड़ के दिनों गुल-बार हो जाना.
वर्ना इंसान मर गया होता
कोई बे-नाम जुस्तुजू है अभी..
ख़ामुशी से हुई फ़ुग़ाँ से हुई
इब्तिदा रंज की कहाँ से हुई.
जो चराग़ सारे बुझा चुके उन्हें इंतिज़ार कहाँ रहा
ये सुकूँ का दौर-ए-शदीद है कोई बे-क़रार कहाँ रहा.
कटता कहाँ तवील था रातों का सिलसिला
सूरज मिरी निगाह की सच्चाइयों में था.
मैं आँधियों के पास तलाश-ए-सबा में हूँ
तुम मुझ से पूछते हो मिरा हौसला है क्या.
काँटा सा जो चुभा था वो लौ दे गया है क्या
घुलता हुआ लहू में ये ख़ुर्शीद सा है क्या.
तू ने मिज़्गाँ उठा के देखा भी
शहर ख़ाली न था मकीनों से.
बोलते हैं दिलों के सन्नाटे
शोर सा ये जो चार-सू है अभी.
जिस की बातों के फ़साने लिक्खे
उस ने तो कुछ न कहा था शायद.
जो दिल में थी निगाह सी निगाह में किरन सी थी
वो दास्ताँ उलझ गई वज़ाहतों के दरमियाँ.
लोग बे-मेहर न होते होंगे
वहम सा दिल को हुआ था शायद.
अभी सहीफ़ा-ए-जाँ पर रक़म भी क्या होगा
अभी तो याद भी बे-साख़्ता नहीं आई.l

न बहलावा न समझौता जुदाई सी जुदाई है
‘अदा’ सोचो तो ख़ुशबू का सफ़र आसाँ नहीं होता.
गुल पर क्या कुछ बीत गई है
अलबेला झोंका क्या जाने.
जिस की जानिब ‘अदा’ नज़र न उठी
हाल उस का भी मेरे हाल सा था.
बड़े ताबाँ बड़े रौशन सितारे टूट जाते हैं
सहर की राह तकना ता सहर आसाँ नहीं होता.
एक आईना रू-ब-रू है अभी
उस की ख़ुश्बू से गुफ़्तुगू है अभी.
होंटों पे कभी उन के मिरा नाम ही आए
आए तो सही बर-सर-ए-इल्ज़ाम ही आए.
हमारे शहर के लोगों का अब अहवाल इतना है
कभी अख़बार पढ़ लेना कभी अख़बार हो जाना.
दिल के वीराने में घूमे तो भटक जाओगे
रौनक़-ए-कूचा-ओ-बाज़ार से आगे न बढ़ो.
बस एक बार मनाया था जश्न-ए-महरूमी
फिर उस के बाद कोई इब्तिला नहीं आई..
